Bricks as bricks are meant to be – Kleiwarenfabriek De Waalwaard B.V.’s mission ever since the end of the 19th Century. The factory makes a traditional and classical Dutch product – hand-formed façade bricks fired in a traditional reverberatory furnace, with a love of tradition and a great deal of respect for the natural process and the environment. Pursuant to this approach each batch is fired in a series of chambers and then carefully selected by hand to obtain a uniform mixture. This procedure guarantees a balanced and sophisticated palette.

Consequently most of the 25 million bricks produced every year are destined for the luxury and traditional house-building sectors – because, after all, differences will out! Tradition does not necessarily need to be at odds with creativity and progress, as is demonstrated by the new collections with their unique combinations of colours. However, in spite of all the variations one element remains constant: the customer’s wish is always our command. For this reason flexibility is one of Kleiwarenfabriek De Waalwaard B.V.’s most important characteristics; for example, our clients are offered every freedom to select mixtures of various colours and shapes for their orders.
